My List of Failures — and how to Avoid them!
Today I will share a failure story about myself that many people can benefit from, especially Freelancers.
A couple of years ago, in my second year of my bachelor’s, I thought I could use some extra money to party more, I started looking around, and having some basic computer science skills, I started freelancing on Fiverr, Upwork, and basically every other famous freelancing website in 2017.
I got up to be a Level Two Seller on Fiverr and could easily do all the parties I wanted, and then I got banned for the pettiest reason and lost all the 120 5-star reviews with it. That was pretty much a terrible pause for me, and I didn’t write another paid code for the next 5–6 months!
I started again after a while, made another account, reached Level Two again, which isn’t very easy, and got banned again. Ended up making a third account and got Level Two on that too, but still a flight risk. On Upwork, I got to be a Rising Talent in my early orders to having 67% success at the end of 4 months which resulted in my early 5-star reviews going to waste. Most of the reasons were that the client wasn’t willing to pay and was trying to cheap out or just straight up went rude.
After these failures, which spanned 3–4 years, I understood that working on someone else’s platform would always have me limited; it would always give me very limited exposure & development.
For anyone & everyone, especially those doing freelancing, please start making your brand with it too.
Get the cheapest or free hosting and start building your website, post your work on social media, start getting clients independently, and stop putting all your eggs on someone else’s platform.
These platforms are a great start, but they limit you to their standards, which might be way behind your potential.
