I have personal problems with people using LinkedIn as a celebration stage rather than what it was supposed to be, a community!
We as humans are constantly being fed โsuccessโ standards or the concept that our lives MUST be a straight path from A to B, and if we deviate from taking a break, something must be wrong with us.
Iโm not celebrating on LinkedIn; Iโm calling out, filling it with success porn; such a post might give a sense of completeness in oneโs life (it does to me, tbh), but it also feels like a โperformanceโ for the followers.
Social media is a great platform, and one of the most significant use cases is to make a community. I love when someone approaches me with a question here or just advice, and I want to spread a message that screams that Iโm not a person who is on a stage performing for an audience; I am a member of the same platform going about and very much open for interactions.
Our life or career keeps morphing into races & marathons we didnโt register for. Still, if we can spare some time, actually look into the boring of our life (which success porn conveniently skips out) rather than ignoring it, and be our actual selves rather than performing online OR offline, we just might have a chance at being sane in our alone time.
